Coatbridge Community Foodbank

Coatbridge Rovers’ Business Club donates raised cash to local foodbank.

Coatbridge Community Foodbank Coordinator, Angela Easton, and some of her team of volunteers were visited today by Club Development Officer, Martin O’Neill and handed a cash donation of £50 raised by the Coatbridge Rovers Business Club. Business Club member, Alison Fagan of AM Fagan Estate Agents, chose the local charity to the the beneficiary of the first of the Business Club’s recipients of money raised by the new scheme.

During the visit, Martin was able to see behind the scenes at the life-saving foodbank and said “Foodbanks, sadly, are a common reality in our communities and Angela and her team, although clearly very busy, were all smiles and very welcoming when I visited. It was both saddening and wonderful to see the sheer volume of work that is put into running the foodbank and the volume of people that use the service. Coatbridge Rovers are very proud to be able to help such a meaningful and vital charity on our doorstep.”

Club Chairman Gary Flint said “I’m delighted that we have been able to assist Coatbridge Community Foodbank with this donation. As a community football club, we know only too well the hardship that ordinary families are faced with day to day and hope to be able to help more in the very near future.”
